Loren Evarts - Keyboards, trombone, hammered dulcimer, vocals

Loren has performed professionally in the CT area in a variety of musical situations for over 40 years. He has played and sung in rock, jazz, and even a disco group, as well as a Portuguese band, when he was 15. He was leader, composer and arranger for the new age/jazz ensemble Confluence, and Sliders, an eight-piece band featuring 5 trombones. Besides keyboards, he has been known to perform on trombone and hammered dulcimer, and sang second bass in Chorale Connecticut. For 10 years he was the organist/pianist at North Guilford Congregational Church and is currently at Milton Congregational Church in Litchfield.

Loren studied jazz piano with noted composer/jazz pianist Anthony Davis. At the University of Bridgeport he studied jazz under Neil Slater, and composition with David Barnett. He subsequently received his Master’s degree in music education, taught for several public and private schools, and is now an instructor for five colleges. He did doctoral studies at Boston University. Loren was a resident at Ragdale Foundation in Illinois.

Over the years he has been fortunate to have been involved in performances with artists such as Dave Weckl (Chick Corea), Gerry Neiwood (Chuck Mangione), Everett Silver (Chuck Mangione), Aaron Copland, Dave Brubeck, Eddie Bert, Mike Davis (Rolling Stones), Don Elliot, Mo Snyder, Bill Reichenbach, Billy Hart, Danny Stiles (Bill Watrous), Sonny Costanzo, Fred  Vigdor (Average White Band), Rhonda Larson (Paul Winter Consort), Morton Gould, Elie Siegmeister and Gwyneth Walker. Loren has recorded 4 albums of original music, and has done studio work for numerous artists. One of his pieces was a finalist in the London Chamber Music Ensemble competition.

His most recent endeavor is recording a new album of original music. It was produced by Grammy award winner Will Ackerman (Windham Hill Records) at his Imaginary Road studio in VT. Also appearing on various tracks are Grammy winning artists Eugene Friesen on cello (Paul Winter, Trio Globo), Rhonda Larson on many types of flutes (Paul Winter, Ventus) and Jeff Haynes on percussion (Pat Metheny, Pete Seeger). In addition, Grammy-nominated bassist Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel and King Crimson, among countless others) contributed two tracks. It was engineered by Tom Eaton, who performed on bass on two tracks.
